September 8 - 1 Peter 1:21

"Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God."

In our kitchens, we entrust our hopes to our tools and ingredients, anticipating that they will work together to create something delicious and satisfying. We exercise faith in the process of cooking, believing that heat will transform raw ingredients into a tasty meal. However, the faith we exercise in God is even more profound and vital.

When we believe in Jesus Christ, we express faith in God who raised Him from the dead, thus placing our faith and hope not merely in a process, but in a living, loving, all-powerful God. This faith is far superior to any trust we might place in our culinary skills or kitchen tools. Our faith in God provides not just temporary satisfaction, but eternal hope.

The faith we have in God through Jesus Christ is like the heat that transforms raw food into a nourishing meal. It changes us, strengthens us, and prepares us for the feast of eternal life that awaits us. Let's be reminded of our faith each time we step into the kitchen, keeping our faith and hope securely placed in God.

Reflective Questions:

  1. How does your faith in Christ affect your daily hopes and expectations?
  2. What kitchen tasks or routines can serve as reminders of your faith in God?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the faith we have through Christ. Help us to keep our faith and hope steadfastly in You, in all circumstances. Amen.
