October 11 – Preserving Integrity

October 11 – Preserving Integrity

1 Thessalonians 5:6 - "So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober."

Walking through the aisles of a supermarket, we find countless items preserved to ensure they remain fresh and safe for consumption. This preservation not only prolongs the life of the food but also maintains its quality. Similarly, our integrity needs to be preserved.

Our spiritual walk is a path laden with potential pitfalls and temptations. The slumber of complacency or intoxication of worldly pleasures can easily divert us. By exercising self-control, akin to a sealant on a jar, we ensure our spiritual essence remains untainted and true to the teachings of Christ.

In essence, self-control is our spiritual preservative. It allows us to remain awake, alert, and sober amidst the sleep-inducing world around us.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What are the current threats to your spiritual preservation and integrity?
  2. How can you actively practice self-control to safeguard your walk with God?

Morning Prayer:

Lord, I seek your strength to remain awake and sober in my spiritual journey. Help me preserve my integrity, resisting the slumber and distractions the world presents. Amen.
