November 9th: Savory Moments

Colossians 4:2 - "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."

A truly savory dish captures our attention; we are present in the moment, relishing each flavor. Our relationship with God is much the same. To truly commune with Him, we need to be watchful and thankful, savoring each moment we spend in His presence.

Devotion in prayer is not just about the act of praying, but the posture of our hearts during that act. Being watchful implies an attentiveness to God's voice, to His promptings, and to His blessings. Coupled with a heart of gratitude, this watchfulness allows us to discern God's workings in our lives, even in the subtlest ways.

In a world that's always rushing, where distractions are many, it's crucial to take a moment, pause, and savor our moments with God—being watchful of His presence and ever thankful for His love.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How has watchfulness enhanced your prayer life?
  2. Can you recall a recent moment when you were particularly thankful during prayer?

Morning Prayer:

Loving Lord, teach me to savor my moments with You. May I be watchful in prayer, ever attentive to Your voice, and always thankful for Your enduring love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
