November 14th: Marinating in Memories

November 14th: Marinating in Memories

Psalm 77:11 - "I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old."

To marinate is to soak, allowing for deeper infusion and richer flavors. Just as meat or vegetables take on the flavors of a marinade, our souls can deeply absorb the memories of God's wonderful deeds in our lives. These memories, when recalled, serve as fortifying reminders of His eternal faithfulness.

In moments of doubt or despair, marinating in these memories can rekindle our spirits, filling us with hope and gratitude. By actively remembering how He led us through past challenges, provided when it seemed impossible or brought unexpected joys, we strengthen our resolve for current trials.

These memories aren’t just personal. The collective memory of God's people, filled with stories of His wonders and miracles, is a rich tapestry we can immerse ourselves in, drawing strength and gratitude from generations past.

Reflection Questions

1. Which memories of God’s deeds in your life do you often recall, and how do they strengthen your faith?

2. How can you create a practice of regularly reflecting on God’s past wonders, both in your life and in the lives of others?

Morning Prayer

Dear God, let me soak in the memories of Your faithfulness, allowing them to infuse my heart with renewed hope and gratitude. Amen.
