January 16 - Psalm 130:7

January 16 - Psalm 130:7

"O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption."

Have you ever gathered with loved ones around a sumptuously spread table, the air filled with the aroma of a home-cooked meal? The joy and warmth of such moments give us a sense of togetherness and satisfaction. A similar scene of abundance and warmth unfolds when we place our hope in the Lord - His table offers plentiful redemption and a love that remains steadfast.

This love from the Lord is not fleeting or conditional; it’s a love that is constant and unwavering, like the embers that keep the kitchen warm and welcoming. In life’s kitchen, there are moments of joy and celebration, and also moments of trials and tribulations. Yet, it’s this steadfast love of God that adds flavor to our triumphs and offers comfort in our tribulations.

God’s redemption is plentiful, similar to a feast that leaves no guest wanting. Regardless of our past mistakes and failures, His redemption is available in abundance, offering us a fresh start. In the same way, a kitchen sees many culinary failures, but each new meal provides a chance for redemption, for turning raw, simple ingredients into something nourishing and delightful.

The invitation today is simple yet profound: to place our hope in the Lord, to taste and see His steadfast love and plentiful redemption. In a world that often leaves us hungering for more, let us feast on God's love, savor His redemption, and let hope rise like the inviting aroma of a well-cooked meal.

Reflective Questions

1. How does the steadfast love of God bolster your hope in Him?

2. Can you recall an instance where you experienced His plentiful redemption?

Morning Prayer

Almighty Lord, we place our hope in You, knowing that Your love for us is steadfast and Your redemption, plentiful. May this hope enable us to experience Your love in deeper ways. Amen.
