February 20th: The Leaven of Love

February 20th: The Leaven of Love

Galatians 5:13 - "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love."

Leaven, a seemingly insignificant ingredient, holds transformative power. It takes the basic components of bread and elevates them, giving rise to a nourished and wholesome loaf. Love, in a similar manner, acts as the leaven in our lives. It elevates our actions, making them meaningful, and drives us to serve one another with sincerity and compassion.

Our call to freedom, as mentioned in the scripture, isn't a call to self-indulgence. Rather, it's a call to utilize this freedom to serve others with genuine love. When we infuse our actions with love, they are not only elevated but also directed towards a greater purpose. This purpose aligns us with God’s intentions for our lives, reminding us to always prioritize love in service.

Service without love can often be mechanical or devoid of genuine concern. But when love is the driving force, service becomes an act of worship, an embodiment of Christ’s teachings, and a testament to God’s love in our lives.

Reflection Questions:

1. How can you ensure that love is the driving force behind your actions and service?

2. Where in your life can you apply more love, turning ordinary actions into extraordinary acts of service?

Morning Prayer:

Loving Father, may Your love be the leaven in my life, uplifting my actions and intentions. Guide me to serve others with genuine love, reflecting Your divine love in all that I do. Amen.
