December 7th: Preheating the Oven

December 7th: Preheating the Oven

Luke 12:35-36 - "Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks."

As bakers know the importance of a preheated oven for the perfect bake, believers understand the significance of a heart prepared for the Lord's return. We must maintain a state of readiness, with our lamps lit and wicks trimmed.

The Master could knock at any moment. Our preparedness ensures we’re not caught off-guard, but instead, we welcome Him with open arms and joyous hearts.

Reflection Questions

1. How am I actively preparing for Christ's return?

2. Are there areas in my life where my lamp needs refueling?

Morning Prayer

Jesus, keep my heart always ready, my lamp burning brightly, awaiting Your glorious return. Let me be ever watchful, ever eager, for the moment You knock. Amen.
