January 14 - Titus 2:13

"...while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ..."

Anticipation often accompanies good things. In the kitchen, we eagerly wait for the meal to be ready, for the bread to rise, for the flavors to meld. Similarly, as believers, we live in anticipation of a glorious event—the return of our Savior,  Jesus Christ.

This anticipation is not marked by passive waiting but characterized by active preparation, much like preparing a meal. It involves nurturing our faith, embodying the love of Christ in our interactions, and spreading the hope of His return.

This verse refers to Jesus' second coming as the "blessed hope". It's a future event, full of promise and expectation. The hope of Christ's return does not merely concern the future but impacts our present reality. It instills a sense of purpose, inspires a lifestyle of holiness, and drives us to be diligent in God's work.

Reflective Questions

1. How does the anticipation of Christ's return instill hope in your heart?

2. How does this "blessed hope" influence your daily actions, decisions, and interactions with others?

Morning Prayer

Lord Jesus, we live in the blessed hope of Your return. Help us to reflect this hope in our lives, inspiring us to live in a way that is pleasing to You. May our lives bear witness to this hope, drawing others to You. Amen.
